ViewLocal Ltd ("ViewLocal", "we", "us", "our") is the data controller for the personal data processed through this website and our services. We are registered in England and Wales and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

2. What Data We Collect and Why
Account data
Name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash).
Legal basis: Contract performance — necessary to create and manage your account.
Booking data
Property address, preferred dates, special instructions, payment reference.
Legal basis: Contract performance — necessary to deliver your viewing service.
Payment data
We do not store your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processor. We store only the Stripe session and payment intent IDs.
Legal basis: Contract performance and legal obligation.
Enquiry data
Name, email, phone, message content submitted via the contact form.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests — responding to your enquiry.
Marketing communications
Email address for marketing updates (only if you opt in).
Legal basis: Consent — you may withdraw at any time by clicking Unsubscribe or contacting us.
Usage data
Anonymised analytics about how the website is used. We do not use advertising or behavioural tracking cookies.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests — improving our service.
3. How Long We Keep Your Data
Account data is retained while your account is active and for 6 years after deletion (to comply with UK tax and accounting obligations). Booking data is retained for 6 years. Enquiry data is retained for 2 years. Marketing preferences are retained until you withdraw consent.
4. Who We Share Data With
We share your data only with third-party processors necessary to deliver our service:
- Stripe — payment processing (UK & EU servers, SCCs in place)
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Hetzner — cloud hosting and object storage (EU servers)
- Viewers — limited booking details (property address, dates) shared only with your assigned viewer
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with estate agents, third-party advertisers, or any party not listed above.
5. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; correct inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict processing; data portability; and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@viewlocal.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk).
6. Cookies
We use only essential cookies: a session authentication token and your cookie consent preference. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will notify registered users by email of any material changes to this policy at least 30 days before they take effect.
